What is the towing capacity of a 2000 silvarado 1500 with the 5.3, auto, 4x4, single cab, 8ft box?

I did, but I’m seeing a lot of different figures from different sources. I was hoping for an owner to chime in with something confirmed.

Haha, I’m just giving you a hard time. No owner here will serve as a better source than any of the reasonable places you’ve probably seen online. Here is the best source I could imagine asking for. Directly from the owner’s manual:
Edit - Sorry, you said 4WD. This is the screenshot you need:

Thank you! Is the 5.3 for the stick or the auto? I’m pretty sure that’s the one in my new truck.

Pretty sure it couldn’t be optioned with a manual.

That makes it easy then. Last question, any idea what the maximums are without a weight distributing hitch?

Alot of the times the hitch and ball are the limiting factor, unless you are looking to add 5th wheel. Now ratings can be greatly exaggerated because no one was really governing it. For example my 96 k1500 was rated at 10k lbs but no way am I considering that and a like on the FP an 86 Suburban was rated at 8k lbs with a 350 v8 making all of 165hp. Now this link with broken references said about 8k depending on gearing but I figure thats about max.

Our trailer has a max gross of 7k, and I’m hoping to avoid needing a weight distribution hitch.

Check the ball and hitch on the truck, normally there are some sort of ratings.
